Abstract Landscape Painting for Beginners - Four week evening course with artist Helena Barnes

The Old Brewery, Cromarty 7-9pm.

Helena will lead these four Tuesday evening workshops in a relaxed and informal way and each session will have a slightly different focus, exploring:

• Experimental techniques with acrylic paints

• Composition and balance

• Colour theory and mixing

Session one will involve creating 9-12 mini abstract landscapes using acrylic paint. Session two & three will be about exploring and refining these paintings with a focus on colour and composition. Session four will be all about bringing together what we have learned and creating a couple of larger and more resolved pieces.

By the end of the four weeks you should have a good selection of paintings to take home with you. This course is suitable for complete beginners or anyone looking to loosen up their approach to painting.

Cromarty based artist Helena is originally from Northumberland. She studied Fine Art & Art History in London before moving to the Highlands to teach art and to paint in her studio by the sea. A sense of place, movement, light and atmosphere take precedence over form and figurative representation in all of her work.
